In Turkey, a remarkable place lies hidden: a ghost town made up of over 700 unfinished castles. The project, known as Burj Al Babas, was launched in 2014 with the ambition of becoming a luxury residential complex aimed at wealthy investors, particularly from Arab countries.
Each villa was built in the same extravagant style, featuring gothic turrets, elegant balconies, and details inspired by French architecture. However, the dream of opulence quickly collapsed. Financial problems, combined with a real estate crisis, led to the developer’s bankruptcy and the project’s abandonment.
Today, the rows of identical, perfectly aligned castles give the impression of a set from a fantasy film — a world deserted before it could be inhabited. Although there have been attempts to revive it, the place remains suspended between ambition and failure, becoming an unusual attraction for tourists seeking stories lost in time
